Our Wine Story
We, owners Melanie and Lauren, grew up in the small town of Coloma, Michigan in the heart of the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail. Our grandmother sparked our interest and taste for wine at a young age when she fed us small sips of her homemade Niagara and Concord wines made from the grapes grown on the family farm. As we grew older, we became avid wine drinkers and aficionados while working together in the Michigan wine industry and opened Lazy Ballerina Winery in 2015. In June of 2017, we opened our second tasting room in nearby Bridgman, Michigan.

The Origin of our Name
No, we weren’t dancers (but give us enough wine and you may see us try)! “Lazy Ballerina” is a term used in viticulture. It refers to a type of trellis system that a wine grapevine is grown on. We decided to make the name our own and create a fun, slightly quirky wine brand to appeal to women, dancers (or those that try) and all Michigan wine lovers alike!
